Ideally used in low light situations to dim/control motors proportionally to the level of ambient light?

There's an interface card coming soon (planned May 2009) which provides two analogue (0-10v) inputs. Combine that with the analogue outputs and the job's a good 'un!

ahh brill so then all you would need to do is wire up an LDR to an RJL/BNC connection.

I personally wouldnt even need analogue output just on/off.
