I have caulerpa and a little bit of chaeto with plenty of other 'pest' species. I have also acquired some red algae and brown algae off other reefers etc.

I just keep harvesting this stuff as it is all takes nutrients out of the water.......

If you want some algae let me know I can send you some with a SAE

I think from what I've read a mix is best but some people stay away from Caulerpa sp as they release toxins into the water when damaged or when they decay. I think I'll be getting rid of the C. prolifera, but keep the C. serratuloides as it grows like stink.

Hey Cranners, what red/brown algaes do you have? Do they grow well?

Cheers

Be interesting to see what others say but ive always found chaeto gets out competed by caulerpa.

Seems to be the case the seratuloides? is just going crazy right now, the Chaeto isn't growing anywhere near the same rate I would guess
