SIMPLY STUNNING

I bought my max 130 a few months ago from my local LFS. I was told at the time it was his last model in and was on diplay (had great fun trying to get all that home built up in my car) and not much was different from the 130D except the surface skimmer. I have obviously found out different since. Anyway on filling my tank I was shocked to find out that apparently my floor was rather squint. I could not figure out how I had never noticed things rolling off the table etc. So i set about using some insulating tape round the top to stop me seeing the squint water. I kept meaning to dig out my level to check how off the floor was. Then about a month ago I read another post where someone had a problem with their trim that was making the water level look squint. So i thought I am going to take a look at this. When I got home i measured the distance form the top and bottom trim on the tank on both sides and shock horror a 7mm difference between sides. So sent an email to redseasteve (Red Sea rep) and to my EXTREME surprise he returned my email  Anyway after a few emails he said that they needed to order me a new tank but there was a hold up with all production and it would be a good few weeks. Well this morning my new tank has shown up. Only downside is having to change everything over. I have found out that my max is a VERY old one and it is very rare for this to happen. For anyone who is worried about the cost of the Max or service you get from Red Sea (redseasteve) and Interpet.... DON'T BE. Go on you will not regret it.

Cheers

it was me who had the 7mm problem, and just as you are, i was very impressed with red sea's professionalism and service.

This must be the RSM appreciation society. I got mine online for 499 without the start-up kit. (I already had most of that from an earlier nano). I ha seen the RSM in a LFS and that was the one for me. I cannot comment on RSM customer service issues, since I havent needed to use them at all. I only say if you want a tank that looks good and is not too big for your space then do this one.

I am still wondering whether it is ok to only use the skimmer at night or 24/7

We would always recommend the skimmer is used 24/7 as it performs a key task. However some people prefer to have their skimmer off if the noise becomes an issue

JUst wondering..... If you have dealt witht he same people as me. I have sent several emails over the past couple of weeks to intrepet and had no responce back at all. I asked them if they could possibly supply me with a new cover for my skimmer filter compartment and a cost for a new timer ( the existing one had shorted out with water creaping in to it). Ihave only had an automated message telling me that my request would be dealt with within 21 days. It has been 21 days and I have had no responce. In the end i've had to rewire the hood so that the lights come on with the switches and removed the timer fuction completely.

If you have contacted them in another way please can you provide me with these details.

Nelson, although I don't work for Interpet, I do work for Red Sea, and as such I'm sorry if Interpet, as our UK distributor hasn't met with your expectations. Please PM me. I will be happy to post you a new timer along with fitting instructions. Send me your full address and the colour of your Max. If you get it to me this evening I will post it tomorrow morning. Kind regards, Steve

Hi Nelson, I'm having the same issue at the moment and think I've got the same problem as you. Did you time continue to go round correctly but just not turn the lights on?

If so how did you fix it/work around it, I've been trying to raise someone from Interpet for 2 days and all my corals are starting to look very sad.

cheers

I ended up opening up the hood and bypassing the timer so that the lights were just controlled by the switches. Took a little while to figure it out but managed. If you aren't good with electrics maybe get a electrician or electrical engineer to do it.

I contacted interpet about 3-4 weeks ago now and no responce. I have called them twice and never got to speak to anyone. Just waiting for Redseasteve to get back to me to see if I can get the timer from him.
