I see GHL offer a weather (red) stick and a moonlighting (blue) stick. The website isn’t clear, but the red stick also seems to offer moonlighting – so does that mean if I want weather simulation and moonlighting I only need to buy the red stick?

Also, how good are the GHL offerings as moonlights? I have a Reef Blue Aquaray as a moonlight at the moment and it’s pretty darn good in terms of illumination. How does the GHL compare? I know the GHL is clever in terms of phases, and dimming, but it’s only really the brightness I’m concerned about.

Thanks

ok, i *think* i might have answered my own question - the weather simulation is a pack of a red and a blue stick so you get the best of both.

would still be interested to hear how these compare to the aquaray reef blue though :)

These are a great bit of kit, everybody comments how good they look.

The GHL LED units are really just for effect lighting and introducing light gradually to the tank. The Simu lights as you have found out contain both the Blue/White and Red LEDs and can be sued for simulation of both moonlight and sunrise as well as storms.

As you already have aquarays you might consider just getting the dimming module for the aquarays. This will allow you full dimming control and moon simulation, but you would obviously miss the sunrise effects.
