I'm getting my RSM 130 next weekend from a forum member and can't wait! He's upgrading as such to an RSM 130D.

Can anyone please tell me what the exact differences are between the two tanks as the specs (from what I can see) look the same?

Is there anything I will be able to/am advised to do with regard to improving the tank so it's at the same standard as the 'D' or is there nothing to really worry about for now?

Thanking you all in advance!

Excited of London

main difference is the surface skimmer which is standard on the 130d but available as an upgrade for the 130. Also the 130d has more leds for night viewing.

Thankyou for that John :D

I have a nice moonlight led strip that I can use so that's not an issue really. I'll seek out the upgrade :D

If you PM whipitup Jenny he has just upgraded and knows all the changes and I understand there is more than one.

I'm going to be giving Roger a bell (not for him to wear, of course) when I have the tank in front of me cd....then I can get a better idea of what he is talking about

Cheers ears.

That's how it goes big ears.

Once you get the skimmer sorted out, let me know how, as I can't get mine sorted. Very tempted to swap to my Tunze 902

I am shutting down the D-D Deann, yes. This is a nice upgrade and I am going to be sorry to put my nano in its box, but I wanted the RSM right from the start so had to snatch up Leigh's offer :D

I am downsizing and selling a couple of freshwater tanks too as I will no doubt want to run the nano again at some stage. 8 tanks take a fair bit of looking after, but it's my passion so I don't mind :D

ALSO:
Hood that opens fully and in 3 stages.
Deeper top trim.
Slot in rear of tank adjacent to power centre to allow cable and tubing access.
You get the cooling fan and accessory kit.
Stand is slightly higher
Better cable restraint system (pumps and heater cable)
Higher par lights (but you can buy them)

Thanks Roger :D

I can buy the cooling fan kit, I know that much. The lighting is going to be stronger than the D-D so the corals aren't going to know what hit them for a while. Recon I'll get them used to that first then think about the upgrade at a later date
The stand being lower suits me as I'm not a strapping 6 footer so will be having to get a step stool anyway :o

I did your route jenny; upgraded 130 with a tunze nano skimmer, steviet collection cup and media rack, fleabay led lighting strip on a plug timer and finally a surface skimmer available from redsea (which made a massive difference I might add)

There's over a dozen changes. These include: new fully adjustable protein skimmer, new surface skimmer (U), additional led's, full opening hood, deeper trim, new cabinet design, cable exit from back rather than side of aquarium, additional water cooling fan included (U), full length reefkeeping dvd supplied as standard (U), upgraded media bags, higher PAR power compact lighting (U).
The items market (U) are those which can be purchased to upgrade an original M130 to a 130D. CHeck out www.redseamax.com for more details.

It sounds as if buying the new version is a much better proposition than buying the old version IMO, if you have the funds, of course.
