Uncomplicated tanks are definitely the way forward! Take this months TOTM for example, it's a 100 gallon tank + sump and there are just two pumps for water movement! One return and one circulation! It doesn't come much simpler than that - plus... it's got one of the cleanest and simplest sumps I've seen in a while!

Uncomplicated tanks don't have to be unsuccessful tanks. A prerequiste of a successful tank isn't one that has all the bells and whistles when it comes to equipment and gadgetry - the feature this month oozes success and stunning results which is why we're proud to bring it into the UltimateReef TOTM series.

Congratulations Kev on being UltimateReefs July 2009 Tank of the Month.

Great tank, I really like the way that the corals stand out so well against the background instead of a wall of rock.

Congratulations,
Paul

Very nice, good to see a TOTM where the whole tank is in the same place, not some great big sump room out the back running it all.

Just been looking at your tank. Your Acroporas look amazing. I have just set up a new tank which I want to be SPS, and I was going to use a 3 channel dosing pump. Expensive !! But reading about you using TMC Bio Calcium made me think. When you were growing your Acro Frags, did you still use the same system to keep the KH and Calcium and Magnesium up ?
I like the way you have open flow through the tank. It looks really natural, and I guess thats a reason why your Corals look so good perhaps.

90% of my corals are grown from 1" frags. i ran a calcium reactor on my last tank for the last 6-8 months before the change over to this tank and i have a reactor for this tank but just have'nt put it on yet

Brilliant.

Gives me hope that even a reef keeping nano numpty like me can aspire to a fantastic tank without all the hi-tech gadgets and gizmos.

Delighted to see such great looking corals under T5's.

Many congratulations, my favourite tank of the month so far.
