View Full Version : GHL Optical level sensor playing up

I think there's something wrong with my optical level sensor. It seems to have stopped triggering when the water level drops. The sensor itself seems to work a bit though because if I hold my thumb over the end it triggers and the water comes on. It's like it's become less sensitive or something like that.

I've given it a clean but that didn't help.

Any ideas?

:thanks:

It could be a build up of calcerous deposit on the tip. I am not sure how you cleaned it, but soaking in a mild vinegar solution may help.
The other thing that can affect optical sensors is a change in lighting, partially shading the sensor from bright direct light can improve the sensitivity.
If that doesnn't help drop me an email and we'll take it from there.

Thanks Steve. I'll just cleaned it with a cloth. It does look clean but I'll give it a vinegar soak and see if that helps.

On an unrelated subject: Do you still sell GHL equipment to individuals? I was hoping to order some using the 10% off from filling in the questionnaire but can't find it on www.reafdreams.co.uk?

:thanks:

Unfortunately we don't supply GHL from Reefdreams and haven't done for a couple of years now, since we took over the distribution.
Thanks for filling in the survey, I really appreciate all the responses. I'm sure you will find something from Reefdreams to use the discount on.

Cheers
