Gonna sound wierd but i only went on the reef for the first time today. Austins kids were all in fiji for his anniversary so we have just been going around fiji and seeing the place which in a way is a good thing.
So now his kids have gone again it is reef time. Saw the reef tables today load sof nice corals, clams and fish. Saw a pipefish, two morays (1 snowflake) and a lionfish plus loads more!!
Moving to the hotel on wednesday so wil get broadband and put photos up here.
Lots of exciting prospects including a chance for you guys to come out here and help in the future and a new development in importing some corals from here as a fundraiser. To go in our aquariums!!
Robbie check my facebook profile for some fiji photos, no fishy ones yet though.
Will update on thursday.
good stuff dude, keep it up

Right we have been transplanting coral frags from a healthy reef to a dead reef the past two days. Taken 4 large buckets full of corals and 6 clams. Seem to be doing ok today but lots of butterflies about pecking at them.
Just got in from cleaning the coral table while avoiding lionfish. Couple of photos as tasters. I leave on sunday.:(:(:(:(:(

Wow! Great photos. And what a great opportunity!
Do you know this gent personally? I'm just asking as i'm travelling next year and was hoping to go through Fiji, and would love to see some of this first hand! Would he accept a volunteer for a week or so?
Cheers~!
Thanks for sharing those. I love seeing the giant clams and algaes as well as the fish and corals. Fantastic.
Hi Luke,
Glad you had a great time. You have taken some great photos too. There looks to be quite alot of algae on the reefs from your photos. Are they having problems with increased runoff or sedimentation there?
Cool!!! Sidera Picta

Hi Luke,
Glad you had a great time. You have taken some great photos too. There looks to be quite alot of algae on the reefs from your photos. Are they having problems with increased runoff or sedimentation there?
Yeah, the main reef has suffered really badly as due to deforestation the river opposite has broken through and flows out on to the reef and when there is a big flood load sof sediment etc floats about blocking light etc. The algae in the channel is more natural it is only onthe bases of the corals where the farmer dmasels haven't cleaned. Temperature gets really high around 38c also bt corals have adapted which is good.
Andy that moray was BIG!!! He swam past me and i was like wowww. Will bring my laptop to next WLRC meet to show you the other photos. saw loads of morays including a snowflake and a big black one with bronze speckles??
And a fake sea snake eel

It sounds like you had an amazing time. Judging by your photos it was an amazing experience :D Really great pics btw :D
