since i set it up last week its been a bit snowy in my RSM,,, followed the Q&A to see what the problem could be,, ive narrowed it down to the skimmer, as i have had the tank off and after 15 mins the tank looks very nice and clear,,, i have cleaned the skimmer again and checked the inlet pipe, the pipe is black with a blue collar ,,, im going bonkers any advice ,,,,, i hope steve reads this ,,cheers Tom :(

The skimmer takes quite a while to bed in especially in a new set up. Give it time. I have just got my hands on a new one and took 2 weeks before the micro bubbles extinguished.

I still have micro bubbles now, and the noise off the skimmer is insane.

I spoke to the LFS where I got it from this afternoon, and they gave me one of those valve type thingies to put on the air intake tubing.

Helped a little, but its the only real thing that annoys me about the 130D - Everything else is perfect.

Cheers ,, ive been told that micro bubbles in a small amount are normal in the RSM,, i have a valve on the air intake but im going to try an air stone on the end ,,see if that work ,, apart from that i love it,, best tank ive had ,,,,

what have you got in the back chambers. cirtain filter flosses gives me tons of bubbles, have you got live rock rubble under the skimmer or anything. if it is the 130 old tank you have pull out the skimmer pump and look if it has a black or blue/green circular piece of plastic on the bottom of the pump. if you have a black piece of circular plasic contract steve ( sponsor on here) and ask for the greeny peice. i will try and find you a pic so you know what im going on about, anyway that could potentially be the cause of your problems

many thanks ,, but ive done all that ,i have a blue inlet thingy , i think ive solve the prob,, after a few days the filler floss gets clogged up and slows the water slightly ,, change it every 2 days now ,, the water is crystal clear ,, also going to mod the filer foam to the same as the 130d ,, with the hole in the middle to help the flow:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Tom, now I see this thread I understand why you were enquiring about skimmers. It's not an uograde to the 130D skimmer you need, it's just to ensure you have the 130 skimmer set properly, and are not using a salt or additives containing edta. Follow the bubble troubleshooting on www.redseamax.com and chat to your lfs if you are still stuck. Make sure you are using Coral Pro salt, as it doesn't cause the microbubbles that can be caused by synthetic salts.

Steve ,, i followed the trouble shooting , i also use redsea coral pro ,, ive just put the bubbles down to filter floss, there are lots of bubbles again today ,,,,,am i able to change the filter sponge for the same one as the one in the 130D with the hole cut out to increase the flow ?
