Well, I've only had this hobby for 3 months and today I am so fed up I'm seriusly considering selling all the stuff and packing it up. I never anticipated this would be so difficult to work out.

Don't give up!

What do you need help on? There's enough of us on here with RSM's to give you some help or pointers.

Everything is wrong, when is not one thing is the other.

I got someone from Maidenhead Aquatics to service the tank yesterday because I could not understand how to make the correct flow work. He was at home for two hours. After connecting a brand new sump pump (Eheim 1060) and play with the weir to reduce the noise he then said that the flow was still too strong and I had to fit God knows what kind of pipe to regulate the flow.

That pump is the one he suggested for the tank the week before when he came to look at the tank.

I've changed the skimmer to a Deltec MCE300. I struggled to get it to bleed, managed it at last when then I noticed that the water had too many bubbles so there is something wrong with the new pump again. I am so fed up, I've never had a hobby that gave me so much grief honestly. I was just going to put it al lfor sale when I read your email. I apologise for all the neg I'm giving now so thank you for reading :( I'm going to get some big piece of chocolate.

Hi Gedsta, thank you but I don't have an RSM. I joined this chat because I was admiring Tangastic1's tank and learned that we both live in Staines.

Thanks again

Hi Tom thanks, in my emotional frustration I did not realise that this was not a PM message to Tangastic1. I did not want to make you all cry (trying to sound happier now)

I thought it was, it looked like one but the guy from Maidenhead aquatics removed it all together and said that it will probably facilitate a tank overflow. Replaced it with a sponge and some other white sheet material. There is no noise now but he said that if it moves I have to put it back on (if I can that is, otherwise another service visit to pay). Tom I'm seriously considering buying a second hand RSM.
