View Full Version : where to point the power head flows
where do you point the 2 flows from the power heads ,, do you point both down or one down and one to break the water surface,, i haven added a surface skimmer to my 130 ,, cheers ,, i have a koralia 1 that i can add , but would like to know what you all think ,,even redseasteve cheers ,,trying to keep the plugs to a min ,,:D:D:D
you should always break the surface with at least one powerhead if you can. Make it so water surface looks like you could go rafting on it! :D By pointing one at surface, and one pointing down and perhaps to front of glass, you create a really good circulation. More flow in more directions the better though. Maybe think ahead and wavemaker could be a nice addition (when you got £££'s to spend!) :D
I have the left hand one pointing down towards front glass, the right hand one pointing up towards centre of tank.
Thats how i have got my 250 set and it seems to be fine.
i've got 250 and the number 1 pump is hard piped down and behind the rock which removes all dead spots as the flow behind draws water through all the rock if that makes sence! and number 2 is pointed at the water surface and i also have a mp40 which is on lagoon at 75%, hope this helps
ben.
Ive got the left hand one pointing down and ive fitted a Hydorflo to the right hand one, rotates under the power of the pump and brakes the surface plus flo around the tank. My fish and Corals seem to love this set up :applause:
