Okay, I meant first time poster in this section :o

I've had a DSLR for some time now - but haven't been able to justify the expense of a macro lens. So yesterday I received a set of extension tubes purchased off ebay - the following are some of the better pictures from my first experimentation with them.

Please be gentle - I know I've got plenty to learn, not least how to work Photoshop!

i've been taking images for many years, both on land and underwater and i can tell you now that there's nothing particularly wrong with your images, they are not pants at all. though i wonder if cav might be joking.

it takes a while to get to grips with composition with a macro lens and given the often lower than ideal light in some tanks and the fact that you're shooting through on average 10 or more mm of optically crap glass then your pics aren't half bad.

the acan shot is particularly good, with good focus and depth of field, though it is let down by too much foreground, perhaps getting closer or a tighter crop might help. i would also use the 'levels' command in photoshop to fine tune the darker tones to give the image more 'punch' or just increase contrast and saturation.

which macro lens is it?

why do you get people like this on the forum who are absolute ***** to everyone? he's just jealous of the pictures and the corals as well cuz theyre doing brilliantly. great pics, keep up the good work

I was joking. So when you have been here a while you can can start to judge people or is sarcasm lost on you? And please refrain from swearing on a public forum that is visited by minors. Please edit your post.

They are quality pics but I'm sure you didn't need me to tell you:thumbsup:

which macro lens is it?I couldn't justify the expense of a macro lens, so these were taken with extension tubes purchased off eBay.

by the way, any chance of a frag of that a. eflorescence? It's not nearly big enough yet, I'm afraid! It's only been in the tank a week or two. Once it's settled and growing well, give me another shout :)

It's good that those tubes work so well, was wondering how they'd be.

ooooh cav you're evil. you take the mick out of peoples pics even though they're good and then complain about me for using 'foul language'. and you're supposed to be classified support. youre comments arent very supportive. whats the matter with the word anyway? do you think if minors hear it theyre ears bleed and they collapse into tears? ****.

Play nice ladies :p

I'm no DSLR expert, but I know some nice photos when I see them :D I personally love the acan one the most...nothing to do with loving acans either :D

I'm off to find out more about extension tubes, as I'm mid research with regard to DSLR cameras now
