Hello,
I need 53 micron large filter but out of stock at the moment I think. When will you be able to stock them again?

Can I use 53 micron filter for copepods and baby brine shrimp?

Thanks

Hi, thanks for the query - very good timing! We have more arriving this afternoon plus other new items. The 53 micron mesh will catch both juvenile pods and BBS and ideally you'll be wanting to use this mesh to remove excess waste culture water and to retain the young for on growing. For routine harvesting of adult pods the 250 micron is most suitable especially when straining the lumpy detritus at the bottom of a mature culture.

More of the smaller 53 microns are expected to be assembled this morning as well.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Cheers

The large 53 micron strainers are in and now relisted. Some large 25 micron strainers also arrived for really fine work such cyst and juvenile stage recovery.....? these will be listed later.

Master Fugu,
I have question.
I am raising brine shrimp as well now. Can I ad phyto into brine shrimp culture? I am only feeding them with yeast.
Many thanks

Hi iboco - yep, phyto can be fed as the artemia are filter filters. Using live phyto will be a cleaner feed to use if available as it won't degrade so rapidly. The Roti-Rich invert feed we have uses a combo of yeast, vitamins, minerals, and preserved phyto and this works well. Powdered spirulina works well as well. Up to what size are you rearing the little guys?

Hello,
Thanks for your reply Master Fugu.

Thats what I thought. I have phyto culturing going on anyway, so I can feed them with phyto as well as yeast and wheat flour. I may get some Roti-Rich invert food soon.

Well I have only small nano tank ( orca450 ) and pair of common clown fish. I just thought it will be better if I can give them live fresh brine shrimp sometimes.
Will be smaller then frozen brine shrimp size because they can not eat it easily. They take it in and spit it out.

What else I can culture in home for marine tank? Mysiss shrimp?

Hi iboco

Adult pods should suffice for your needs and will not take up too much space/effort. We have an ecotox customer culturing mysis in 200 litre tanks and feeding both adults and young on newly hatched brineshrimp and ZM-200 dry feed. The larval stages are trapped and reared separately. The whole process is space and time intensive but you'll avoid any sea pollutants.

New stocks of strainers now in - including a 25 micron mesh size for really fine work such juvenile pods, rotifers, or cyst recovery from crashed stocks. The following picture shows the size difference between the large strainers and the mini strainers made inhouse. Approx diameter difference of 100mm vs 50mm. Our strainers are triple glued in manufacture and include a collar for extra strength. If you encounter a buildup of scale/solids in the mesh simply use a dilute wash of vinegar to clean the scale off.
