View Full Version : MP40w Mode: What do you use ?
What mode are most people using on the MP40w's. I'm mainly interested in those that are using more than one pump. I suspect that many are using reefcrest ? But would love to get some feed back and would like to know,
1) No of Mp's being used
2) Mode used
3) Sync or anti sync mode, or is there anyone that prefers NOT to sync their pumps ?
4) Do you bother with feed mode ?
5) Power/speed setting that you choose on the turning screw
6) Position in tank, both together or at opposite ends etc
Comments...

Two MP40, anti sync, full power, reef crest , no feed mode, either end of tank a 3rd of the way down the glass. I have a 6100 stream in the tank too, 72 by 30 by 30 inch
Two MP40 opposing each other, anti sync, Lagoon, full power, I use feed mode & night mode.
The main pump is 6'' from the top and the slave is 9'' from the top.
Tank is a 5x2x2
Tank is 180 x 90 x 75cm with 3 x MP40w, one each end plus one on the back, all slightly mis-aligned. Have run Reef crest until last night but now I'm trying Lagoon mode with about 80% power setting and 2 units in sync mode.
Anyone else ?
1) No of Mp's being used 2x Gen2
2) Mode used Reef crest
3) Sync or anti sync mode, or is there anyone that prefers NOT to sync their pumps ? Anti-Sync
4) Do you bother with feed mode ? Yes, always
5) Power/speed setting that you choose on the turning screw Approx 50%
6) Position in tank, both together or at opposite ends etc Opposite ends, 2/3 up, in line with each other

2x Mp40W. Both are mounted on the back of a 48" x 28" (wide) tank and are run on lagoon mode and are not synce'd at all. I tried them in reef crest mode with both sync and anti - sync but found that lagoon mode gives a more 'robust' flow and operating them independently gives more turbulence. I don't use feed mode and due to the fact that they are mounted on the back of the tank, max flow is restricted to approx 70%. Otherwise I end up with a large dune in the middle of the tank. This is however, more than enough.

Must admit that I'm rather liking Lagoon mode at the moment, thought that Reefcrest was the dogs at first be as you say the flow in Lagoon is strong and I like the variation of a longer period.
