Hello

I got one of these on 8th August second hand and it vibrates badly if over 50% of the speed.

Nev, my friend has cleaned it in vinegar and totally checked, and then double checked it whilst putting back together. Nev has 2 of these in his tank and is absolutely stumped as his don't do the same.

Any ideas on what to do?

Try adjusting the alignment of the wet side and the motor. A few mm can make all the difference.

Hi

We have spent hours trying to do it, honestly.

It was bad at the lowest setting, and after all the adjustments and cleaning it in white vinegar etc it has gotten better. But only to the point of using it at about 50% of the speed.

Any higher and the unit vibrates on the glass. Its as if the wetside is a little too slack and spinning unevenly.

What condition is the magnet in on the wetside? Is it a gen1 magnet?

Hmmm OK, running out of suggestions here :)

Have you checked that the shaft is not bent/corroded?

How tight is the nut holding the prop on? Is the prop loose? Blade damaged/warped?

Is the ceramic bearing OK?

Pictures/video may be an idea, someone may recognise the symptoms.. Other than that i can only suggest it may be a problem with the motor!

Just a thought, have you tried your wetside on another vortech to see if it definately the wet/dryside. If its the wetside might be worth getting a replacement one.

The shaft doesn't look bent, although it does look out of balance once spinning.

There is a little play in it if you try it on the wetside. No amount of tightening etc appears to sort this.

Is the ceramic bearing OK?

That was my thinking about getting a replacement, however, I cannot find anywhere where to get a replacement ine, hence this post.

I did PM Jez, but I understand he has been away and so maybe not had chance to respond.

No worries thanks for your help so far anyway.

I was hoping I could maybe get something sorted under the warranty. If not then I could just get a new wetside, but that's £50 which could possibly be saved if it is claimable under the warranty. As far as I know it is under 12 months old.

If the warranty doesn't cover it, then I will just buy a new wetside, but it could just be the ceramic thingy that it needs.

If the shaft looks bent when spinning it may be that it is out of line with the magnet  Do you understand what I mean? I can't explain it any better.

A new gen 2 magnet with shaft and nut is about £12, a lot cheaper than a new wet side.

Yep understand. Nev (screwloose) on here has 2 of these and so I can assume if he cannot set it up without the vibration, then it has to be a fault with the unit / parts.

Any ideas where I can get this from, I cannot find anywhere, without having to buy the complete wetside.
