View Full Version : R.S.M fts update
Hi,
Still running stock lights.
Now trying a few sticks, had some plating and encrusting monti's for a while which have grown and kept their colour so one pale blue acro and a hystrix added.
Fish stock: Pair Yasha goby (hate each other, def pair though), Royal Gramma, McCoskers flasher wrasse plus a Mandarin. Probably going to add a green coral goby when I can track one down.
Crustaceans: 2 sexy shrimp, 1 Anemone shrimp, 1 cleaner shrimp. Would also like a couple more sexy's plus a porcelain crab.

Do you think a fireball angel would trash my L.P.S??

Looks absolute perfection. There are some really amazing rsm130 & rsm250 tanks about. I really am so keen on a rsm250. Just that I want so much to create a refugium, add my RSM c-skim skimmer, add a uv steriliser, ozoniser, plankton reactor...
If I could add those to a Red Sea Max 250 I'd purchase one in a flash!!!! May save up for custom build and purchase a RSM130D to get me started. I just dunno ?!?!?!
Have you modded the RSM130 in any way?
Is it the new 130 D model tank?
Hows the Mandarin doing and what you feeding it please?
Using a chiller or getting by without?
Love to know more keith about your tank! And see more :)

Looks superb mate. A credit to you, great stuff.
I reckon you'd be tempting fate adding an Angel to your set up. I have a Bicolour angel in my RSM, added some LPS frags & he demolished them within a week!!
I only keep Softies now, inc: Mushes, leathers, Zoa's, Ric's, Polyps, etc, These are thriving & my Angel leaves em well alone.
Cheers,
Keith
nice fts shot mate, looks like some very healthy stock
Great looking tank mate. Are you running anything else into the tank? calcium reactor? or is still stock...
Looks stunning Keith, I wouldn,t risk adding a angel jmo.

Absolutely Amazing Very Very Well Done!!!!!!!!!!

Approx 2 1/2 years Sean, had it's ups and inexplicable downs. Hammer coral grows like a weed, torch I can't keep to save my life. My biggest problem at the moment concerns Balling. Due to quantity of l.p.s my Alk and Calc dosing are high, particularly Alk. I manually dose twice a day but am away from home 3-4 days a week therefore have to divide a weeks dosing over 3 days. This means very high doses on the days I'm there. This is not benefiting the corals!
Anyone got a dirt cheap stand alone 3 channel doser??
Keith.
Sadly my flasher died (ate like a pig but got thinner and thinner) probably a worm problem. However few new pics. Added a Symphallia and a true bubble. Need to sort the top right hand side out, you can have too much Gorgonian I think.

...Hammer coral grows like a weed...
Let me know if you ever want to do any 'weeding' ;)
Tank looks beautiful, great job.
Fantastic looking tank, really looks like a true 'slice of Ocean' to me! :worship:
Thankyou so much for kind comments, would dearly love to upgrade now but cash and space are the constraining factors. :(

WOW!!
I can only hope to get my tank as good as this!!
Thanks Matt, I think your aquascaping is excellent. So much better than mine was coral free. Good luck with yours.
Keith.
Few more pics, nothing new. Sadly think I've lost my Dracula goby, no sign for 3 days now. :(
Was a lovely fish but not overly charismatic. If it was human its name would be Billy Nomates.
Probably going to get a pair of yasha's to replace.

Keith.
Cracker wee tank u have there you,ve done an excellent job..
Thanks Angie, I like yours too. I would love to upgrade but space and cash prohibit sadly.
That is one great looking tank you have there  well done :applause: your corals look nice & healthy, it does look like a slice of ocean. :worship:
Thanks Andy, I've since thinned out the Gorg', top right. Looking for a nice green monti digi colony or poss tri coloured acro to replace. Also decent sized sun coral for the gloomy area under the hammer. Bit of rainbow encrusting monti, green or black coral goby and a pair of yashas then sadly done. Oh for a bigger house/more cash/less expensive tastes etc etc.
Keith.
Ooh and some fleuro candy cane (be my third attempt with this) just can't keep it alive for some reason.

Thanks, :). That'll be a brittle star. Were you thinking it might be a feather star? I wouldn't keep these at least untill their captive management has been sorted.

I love the way it all mixes in with one another and hardly any rock is visible! Do you have any pre-growth shots to show how it started out? I'm looking at this, trying to invisage how mine will grow out as im placing it all. Struggling a bit!
Your hammer is right in amongst all your other corals. Doesn't it sting any of them? I have my hammer, torch & frog spawn occupying the entire right hand side of the tank with nothing around them in the fear that they will attack my other corals!
I have to keep fragging the hammers, the moment I notice the zoas closing out come the coral cutters. Plus if you could see the tank from the top there is distance between the corals from that perspective.
I had all my early pics on a pc that sadly died. No photobucket (stupid boy). It's the only reason I haven't done a proper tank thread.
Keith.
Hi Keith
Any chance of some updates? I know you,ve been shopping since these last pictures lol.
Well done on your new role to mate.

Thanks Mick, no updates as corals were for Helen's tank. Waiting for a really nice Monti digi colony to appear for the top right hand corner. Pussey coral has slowly disappeared so need to replace or try something else. Bought a S. CALIENDRUM frag from Eastleigh it promptly rolled into a hammer coral so slightly smaller than it was previously. I did get a 2 head Blasto from same source. Not overly impressed with the colour but the polyps are 2 inches across!! Want to try another trumpet coral, never had any luck with these but I like them. No more room Mick, badly want to upgrade but cash flow not great.
All the best,
Keith.

Ok Mick, no probs. Remember you're a responsible adult.
That is one SERIOUSLY natural looking reef. Very impressive Keith.....it is rammed with corals and a great selection at that. Its a true credit to your knowledge of the hobby....well done :applause:
You should add an Aquaray strip to the front flap. I've done that on mine, it's so simple and makes a huge difference.
