just shows you can take good photos with a small lense.

First one is just too underexposed for me.. if it's RAW you can probably bring it back 1 or 2 stops. The composition is very good.

The second one is better, would be even better if the rising smoke trails were in the frame.. that would really have paid off for the wider lens you've used.

The owls nice, great bokeh and the orange of the eye really stands out.

cheers for that. i think they are a bit too under exposed but i do quite like the effect of "moody skies" with the glint of the canopys.

and with the second one i agree about the smoke shame but still like the pic.

i havent got on with raw in the past especially when taking lots of pics at a airshow or something. cant be bothered to muck about with them when i get home. lol lazy i know.

cheers for the comments though all helps me become better at taking pics.

regards matt

The first photograph almost works for me, I just keep looking for that ray of sunshine through the clouds (as if it was a thunderstorm), but it isn't there. As Alastair has said, if you've got the RAW then you might be able to bring it up a few stops (but not too much so as the colours blow out). However, saying that, if you like the image (and I can see why :) ), then I'd keep it :D.

Nice Owl, I would be tempted to clone out the window reflection to the left though, just a little distracting for me.

Nice images though and it's nice to see different subjects. Too many people just stick to their comfort zones.
