Homeward bound after a wedding reception and ceilidh in Cambridge on Saturday night..

Not the sharpest of images, taken in low light with a phone cam (click the image to get the details from the usual place).. but with an emphasis on composition

.. or what I'm trying to say is.. you don't need a fancy DSLR to take an interesting shot!

Seriously.. if anyone really wants to improve their photography they should always look to the composition first and the equipment last..

very true alistair and looking from a different angle is often a great way to produce an interesting shot. AS we can see here from you nearly passed out on the platform :P

Honest Guv.. a drop never passed my lips!

It might not sound believable, but despite being at a Reception neither of had a glass of anything stronger than squash.. we were still partied out from the night before ;) .. I must be getting old..

In the vertical position I'm 6'2".. and I have to say it makes a massive improvement for almost any situation to get the camera closer to the ground. As soon as you move the camera away from normal eye level the composition dramatically changes, and it's much easier to get a dramatic shot.

I have to agree with that last statement, I am of the same stature and find that its best to change your perspective to get something interesting. I can also relate to the feeling old bit too :P
