View Full Version : MP40 Wave
Hi,
just wondering, can a wave be produced in a 5' tank with just one MP40, or do I need 2?
Many thanks
I've never tried it to be honest with my MP's, there is a video (http://ecotechmarine.com/customer-service/how-to-videos/) though on EcoTech's website that shows how to set one up if you haven't seen it.

I managed to get a small wave going in a 5ft tank but lost my nerve and went back to lagoon mode.
Not sure if it makes a difference but the tank is 5 x 20 x 30 (high) and mp40 is about 15cm from the surface.
i managed to create a wave in a four footer following there vid only about 2"maximum tho. once i turned the sump on the level started hitting the brace bars and disrupted it.
back to lagoon for me.
you would need two imo
Hi
I managed on the office tank but there is a trick and you will need to have suitable rock as well.
the main thing is to turn everything including return set the power to around 80-100% then carefully play with the pulse. You do not need a big wave to be quite effective.
If the tank has a high density of corals then two running in anti sync is probably the best way.

Hi,
thanks for replies. What do you mean by turning everything, including return?
mant thanks
I think Jez means turn everything off (including the return pump) so there isn't any flow in the tank.
Then 'play' with the VorTech settings on 'Pulse' mode.
HTH :)
Ahhh, got you :o
Thanks again guys.
