i'm gonna cut and paste this in here rather than the red sea forum as i might get some info from owners rather than red sea:o
my dads recently picked up an rsm 250 to replace his 130
it has the red sea skimmer pump not the hydor one.
when turning on the pump it produces no bubbles until you blow down the pipe to kick start it then it runs fine(ish) until you turn it off. then it will need kick starting again.
there are no kinks or blockages to the pipe. we've double and triple checked it.
also the air valve appears to make no difference to the way it skims. there is no adjustment. its just no bubbles or full on (after kick starting it). its impossible to fine tune it.
when it is running its also quite noisy like a distant steam train.
can anyone offer any advice please on getting it to skim correctly(and quietly)
we was hoping after all the initial teething problems with the 130 that red sea would have nailed this one from the beginning (apparently not) which is a shame for a tank sporting a hefty price tag
