The tank and cabinet are finally in place.
This is one seriously heavy tank. It took four of us to get it up the 30 odd steps from the garage. Very thick glass and very well braced and strengthened, so probably much heavier than your average tank of a similar size.
Some exterior chips to the corners of the tank glass were found. I guess this happened during construction and these are all double braced so should be fine. One small chip to the black base surround. Again, this looked to have been done in the factory as it had a somewhat dodgy repair job. Overall, it's a sturdy bit of kit though and the prefitted base is a bonus. I added a layer of sound proofing foam to protect the tank base and also damped any noise/vibrations from the cabinet/floor into the tank. Probably not needed on this design tbh.
It's great to finally get the tank in, even if it is a long way from getting wet! Very happy with the overall look as well. |
