natural sea water is 7-8, 13 is a bit high imo. i try and keep mine at around 8.6, no particular reason just seems to be a bit of a middle ground for my tank

thanks for you reply, im just undecided. Im thinking of keeping it at about 9-12 as red sea suggests that for the kind of tank i have. Anyone else got something to add?

I understand stability is the key, but higher KH levels can help in fighting nuisance algaes (along with take other measures)

I am using RSCP salt but still struggle keeping alk any higher than 8 to 8.5.
Which worries me a bit as I suspect that when I do water changes I get a high fluctuation due to the high levels in the salt. This of course is very undesirable.

8 or 9 In a mature system, this goes hand in hand with calc.

This is what I am trying to do for accellerated growth

    No-1
    Kh-12
    Ca-460
    Mg-1390
    Po4-.01

I am also running balling lite to maintain levels, as well as dosing rs reef energy a&b ( no3po4x low dose 2ml per day)

are you dosing the reef energy via a peri pump or just by hand?
I was thinking of auto dosing but this stuff is supposed to be kept refrigerated so was a bit worried about it going off.

Hi, you need to dose extra as its being consumed.

I am putting in 60 aday for next 5 days, I will test each day to see how much I am losing then increase until I get the right level.
