Any thoughts on this? Is it the dreaded Aiptasia?

    Thanks

The top two pictures look like closed polyps, possibly palythoas.

The black stuff is a type of sponge.

The 2 shells look like mussels.

Bottom pic is certainly some kind of anemone. Not aiptasia though - the foot is wrong. Any pics of it fully expanded?

    Hi,look's like a type of Sponge,not Aiptasia.
There is a nasty sponge that sort of colour, but doesn't look as shiny as that, just keep an eye on it,but look's ok.
Bottom pic hard to give id,because closed up,but even the base dosen't look like Aiptasia.
Could be some sort of Nem though ?
    Julie.
    Marine Recipe,
Take some salt, mix with water, and let it settle.
Add some pretty thing's,give plenty of tlc,and watch the Miracle of Nature unfold in your tank

Bottom looks like a Manjano...And the black stuff looks like chicken liver sponge, which is bad as it can take over yer live rock....

    Agree with the above ...

Could you tell us the observed colours on the suspect majano?

Incidentally ... whilst handling live rock its a good idea to wear gloves ... unless you enjoy being attacked by small marine life

The only observed colours are the colours in the above pictures.

I currently have sand in my tank that has caused me to not be able to view it any longer.

Hmm ... majano is actually rather pretty to look at with green tips and sometimes a deep pink'ish centre ... Keep an eye on it ...

The sand should settle nicely after a few hours ... certainly in 24hrs visibility should be near perfect...
