I've had two both Cleartides single Becketts, for the medium size I used an Eheim 1262 and for the large skimmer I used an Ocean Runner 6500, sorry I can't remember the model numbers of the skimmers.

John.

reason is they are really huge and use lots of juice!

Really becketts are(and I looked quite into them at one point) are a bit to clumbersome for thsi reason. You can hardly put one in your cabinet for one.

most people opt for N/W or Venturi

To power a beckets you can look at one of the Reeflo Darts or the Eheim 1262

I wouldnt go for the Ocean Runner as they are not really reliable.

thanks John, might have to try a 1262.

thanks Andy, i agree on the Ocean runners ( have to 6500 i can't use due to props rusting ).

i have a iaquatics BB850 twin becketts which seems a great skimmer that i'm looking at upgrading, the pump i got with it is ment to be a sequence but i have no idea which model or rating as its just a 1/4hp (360w) baldor motor and only says about the voltages and phase's it can be run at and i'd like to swap it for a lower watage pump and like the idea of the pump having its own strainer as the external one i got doesn't have a strainer basket and due to the thin slots on the propeller due to it being a preasure pump get easierly blocked up when something like the cast to a fan worm get drawn through the inlet and slows the flow down no end.

will google reeflo dart now to check them out

thanks
mark

in sure the dart was an american model of the sequence pump, its about 2900 gph with a 4m head if i remember from when i looked, so like a 13,000lph pump (ish), looks just like my 10k pump though.

but if you are upgrading why not try something else as 350watts just foir a skimmer does sound a lot and after looking in the american diy forum for a while the recirc/needlewheel skimmers can do the same if not better than the bekkets for the same footprint and a lot less power.
