The triggers are very well behaved so far. We shall see if they are still angels when they grow a bit...
Many thanks for your comments :-) |

Im just wondering what turns over the sand etc? what CUC? Im getting a pair of blue throats so interested to see how you got around this. Also what filtration are you using? S

Many thanks for comments...
The tank is more or less 64x24x24. The stock has been moved form my cylinder tank which had been set up in June. I have used 4 large bags of live sand. The only reason I went for live sand is that you don't have to wash it ![]() The sand bed is thicker on the left side as I am planning to house there larger number of tube anemones. Only have one cream now, but there are quite a few colourful on order. There are a few larger snails which bury themselves in the sand. I am not sure which one are those as when I have placed an order for cuc I have ordered quite a few different types and I am not sure which are what now. There are around 20 turbos, sea hare and a few brittle star. I will get some more sand stirring snails soon. There are no algae eating fish as there are some macro algae which I want to keep. As for filtration there is about 35kg of live rock- all plate type. I am using 2 vortech mp40 which are placed on opposite sides of the tank on anti synch lagune mode. There is also tunze wave box with wave around 5cm high. The wavebox has connected photocell, so comes on only with main lights. I did not set up the nigh mode for vortech as a lot of the np corals feed and night, so I did not want to reduce flow for them. There is not much high rock structures, so the flow is amaizing. One vortech can easy push vast amount of water across the tank and create back flow near the bottom of the tank which seafans adore. I have chosen 2x150mh lights as there are still some photosynthetic corals which I did not want to neglect. It does not seem to bother np corals at all. With 24/7 feeding regime using reefwork coral feed reactor even chili coral stays open during the day, despite the fact it's under mh light. I dose at the moment live phytoplankton, concentrated rootifers, fm products, golden pearls and cyclopeeze. I use variable peristaltic pump which doses 1 drop/10sec 24/7. I shall see how this work, as it may have to be adjusted. With this kind of food added in larger quantities I have to use strong skimming. I have at the moment deltec apf851 and grotech hea 150 to which I have conneted ozone. I also run rowaphos and carbon. 0.2kg of rowa and 0.2kg of carbon is changed weekly. I am also considering adding korallin no3 filter. At the moment I dose 4ml of vodka and 1 ml of zeostart daily. I also add 5 drops of sponge power a day. Zeofood and zeoback are added twice weekly. Bioptim and biodigest are added on alternative weeks. I hope the carbon sorce is divert enought to deal with the food input. I am slo considering adding 3rd protein skimmer as there is still a space for one in a sump. As for the triggers, I have added most of them at once. I hought, that once they are settled they may be not that welcoming to new trigger additions. It has been only a week or two they are together, so we shall see in time how they get on... My tanks pretty similar in size, im also using the APF851. Have 35kg LR and 20kg bones in. Looking to add another 20kg possibly. I think im looking at using a trickle filter.
Have the triggers tried eating any CUC thats my only worry. S
