Jewul T8 conversion to T5's

Hi all Pants selection of pics really, didnt think of it to much but should have took more pics, but some breif instructions on how to turn Juwel T8's into a T5 unit. Fist rip out the old holders and ballast, i then blanked off the old holes with some black plactic, glued then siliconed to stop water ingress, after i used the Arcadia T5 holders that can be bought seperatly at around £8 for one tube, put a light tube into the holders and marked where i needed to drill the holes, drilled then fixed the brackets in place and fed wires into the central columb and sealed all holes, fixed the new T5 Osram Ballast in place, wired up the lights and sealed the whole unit back up again. Then added some Arcadia reflectors to the tubes to boost the light from them. HTH and its not to vauge for you :-

Another option would be to use GHL end caps which are the same as the Juwel ones, but obviously for T5 tubes. They are about £10/4.

Hello.Exellent idea.Gonna give it a try,I have a Jewel vision 450.It has 4 t8 bulbs.

What size of ballast do i need for t5 bulbs around 4ft. ? i think they are 46inch

Do i need a 2x54w ballast to run 2 bulbs ? or better to buy 2 single ballasts?

Thanks. You make it sound so easy.LOL

Cheers Spike
