We have recently decided to jump into something a little larger....

About 9 months ago we bought a RR94L and have had good fun with it...but have always wanted to have a large reef so thought with the experiance and help gained through here and ups and downs we would try it.

We went for a Betta 1300 Lifespace



We then started the plumbing of the Ro unit and so things went on.....













After alot of the usual waiting around and wishing the days would pass a little faster than normal we ended up with this...

Our main problems was getting to grips with a sump, it was obviosuly a new thing for us going from a Nano and don't quite know how we ran a tank without one now!!

We had terrible problems waiting on supplier who couldn't/wouldn't supply our lights(arcadia series 4 2x250MH 1xMarine actinics and 1Xpure white) so many thanks to Fast lights who sorted us out over night..................I don't know what is wrong with some companies!! A note to suppliers who can't supply once paid, please don't advertise!!(all Non-sponsors )

The first additions were obviosuly our stock from the nano which consisted of

2xcommon clowns(pair)
1xfirefish
1xbubbletip anenome(i know the anenome police wont be happy about this addition at such an early stage but as I used some water from the original tank and the fact that it seemed happier than ever even with my slack maintenance i took the plunge so to speak )

So this Sunday we added 7 blue chromis



1 Foxface rabbit fish



and another foxface but a black coloured and obviosuly smaller and younger, anyone who knows the correct name I would be pleased to hear




Also 2 xblood shrimps

and 4x cleaner shrimps

running a V2 Skim1000, standard chinese made return pump, Rowaphos, Rowacarbon, miracle Mud refug(in the making), and about 100kg's of Fijian LR.

We used a little Indonision rock for different shapes.

We also bought some man made rock from our LFS. Apparently the rock is man made, then left in the sea for a few years to get colour on it and it looks fantastic....Also the rock is usually more flat backed so easier to scape.

Thats it for now, thanks to all that have help answer my stupid questions...

Oh and i know i have a bad problem with the brown algae on the sand bed but i'm hoping the rowaphos will help and a little over skimming.

Looking good so far, I too have upgraded from a RR 94 to a bigger tank, It must be catching-LOL.

I am planning on running both though ATM, I will see how things go with the new set up and how much time I spend on it, my thinking is that the RR will take more of my time, the new tank should be easier to run with it being a larger volume of water.

The RR will always take more time and probably money to be honest! The larger tanks usually after the inital setup, and apart from food, are cheaper an easier

about 550 l about 120 gallons...thats running at pretty much as high as possible...

thanks you'd be amazed how much room they take up what with buckets all over the place!!
