Cleaner shrimp lost his antennas

Hi forum,

Just noticed my cleaner shrimp has had his antennas either nipped off or he's lost them. I can find no sign of a recent moult so assume they have been bitten off. Would a fish do that or do I have something more sinister lurking in the tank?

Or is it just normal?

Thanks guys,

Lee

(Also, does it make him a less efficient cleaner?)

One of mine went round antenna-free for a while. Not sure if they were nipped off (my dwarf angel?) or just an accident, but they grew back over the next moult or two.

They should grow back, but i know what you mean i have a boxing shrimp that seems to have lost a claw in the last day or 2.
done think it will stop the cleaning power but he wont have such a good warning signals.

He gets plenty of that currently. I think I have a whitespot risk currently but then tonight the kole tang looks ok. If the cysts have dropped off, they weren't on him long - 24 hours tops. Tender hooks now. Think I need to reduce my stocking - I knew I should of stuck with 4 blue reef chromis

I had BOTH of my cleaners loose their antenna overnight once with no real explination. Total mystery. They both made full recoveries though.
