3 days ago did a 10% water change

Saturday night my mate was down and i fed my fish, as you do, now ive been feeding my fish twice a day, flake and frozen with cyclopeeze, heres the thing i thought i had cut down on my feeding, but my mates reaction was fekn hell is that how much you feed awe the time?, thats way to much. slap on the wrist for me it was.......so seriously cutting down on feeding, no food for 2-3 days and see how that effects things.

added 1.7kh of foundation B and increased nopox does to 3ml from 2ml per 100litres, in my case 600litres so 18mls

in 10 days my kh has fell from 14.6 - 10.5, a drop of 4.1, will work out daily dose tomorrow to tired now

kh - 12-8 after adding dose yesterday.

4.1 drop over 10 days is a drop off 0.41kh a day

foundation b is 0.034kh 1ml/100ltrs

so if i dose 0.034 x 12 = 0.408 12mls/100litres thats a daily dose of 12mls x 6 (600litres) = 72mls a day of foundation B

does this sound right??

Lomondreef, yes this is correct so long as you are making your Foundation B from powder thus making a stock solution, liquid Foundation B is stronger at 0.34dKH per 100 litres.

I would also look to do this exercise over a 4 day period as it will be more accurate.

yes mate its the powder, and will recalculate after 4 days......hope you dont mind me using this as a diary.

i have qlso turned of my ozone gen, and added a large twin air pump to my skimmer, this is giving me a much better and wetter skim

10% water change done last night, 20 litre wet skim water change, 40 litre change change syphoning sand with gravelcleaner, continuing with 18mls of nopox...............po4 still at 0.64

still adding 18mls of nopox, 72mls of foundation B, and started adding a liquid phosphate remover, daily dose of 12mls, once reduction of po4 is seen i will reduce it by 33%, as per algae management instructions

todays results are

Kh - 13.2 (0.4 out on daily dose calculations but not bad i think)
NO3 - 4
PO4 - 0.64
PH - 8.0
Mag - 1410
Cal - 500
Sal - 1.026
Temp - 26.1

still doing fortnightly 10% water changes and feeding is been heavily reduced in the past 10 days
