RDMM's 4ftx2.5ft Mixed Reef

hi people welcome to my new build thread....

this build is all NSW

this build will be 4ft long, 2ft high and 2.5ft wide, this is my second bash at reefing, left first time cause i took on to much in a 6ft also didnt help that my nitreates were always sky high and so was the phos, being more carful this time and buying decent rock instead of diving in, i did have a 2ft betta 680 from nov but got offered this 4ft at a good price so thought why not and this will be the biggest i go, must admit the exctra .5ft on the width makes a huge difference...

The tank:



the weir:



the stand is a DIY one and only half complete, and dnt have pics of how far i have got yet, the tank is full and rock etc in it lol... only got front and side cladding to do so didnt need to wait to finish it before i filled it got the back and right side done, didnt need alot doing as both will be hidden, but one the back i have drilled 3 large holes for plugs and ventaltion, but kinda forgot about the middle beam on the stand and its covered the middle hole lol.... the inside is painted in black gloss where the outside will most likely be vinyl.. might call on the help of topv6 for that though lol eh chris


the sump:

the sump is a 3ft, 15'' high, 15'' wide, with 3 chambers, first holds my filter sock, still waiting for my bubble magus filter sock holder to come and my NAC6A is in there as the baffle is 11'' high perfect for the skimmer 2nd chamber holds my cheato and 3rd one my bubble magus mini70 and my 3000lph return pump and my reef float auto topup unit... things are still a bit messy in there but not as bad as some peoples my bubble magus C100AT isnt running yet, just waiting for a couple of parts to get it sorted yeah yeah i have a thing about bubble magus products LOL the lights are temporary whilst i am running some tests on different bulbs and also wait for my light fittings to come, for the time being it looks like i will be using 2x12w (1w led) lights, been using one as you can see and its doing the job fantasicly, mini70 is running rowa but gonna move to po4x4..







the display tank:

currently mainly LPS, with the odd SPS, 20kilo of rock and 3 turbos, nas snails, 2 cleaners, sand shifting star fish and a stray mirco crab lol... did have some hair algea due to a dodgy TDS meter and some high tds ro anyway got rid of that or should i say the mexican turbos did lol... reserved 30kilo of rock from ste (dduck) to bump it up to 50kilo! could do with more sand also....quick shot of a couple of weeks ago, frags and now stuck down and got a few more bits.... fish are in QT as i had a WS break out from a wrasse grrr

thats about it for now, will get some coral pics soon as, the cabinet build might be a slow one lol

got a few nice frags off stuey and all settling in well! acro ones seem to be open and loving life in the tank, so does the free acro crab lol.. cheers mate

buying a hanna phos checker cause struggling to read the d&d one, sps seems to be growing rly well, specially the hystrix which is now starting to turn pink nothing really much to report, the BM c100at is a pretty good reactor! results been awesome
