Boyu DG 2516 Protein Skimmer

Someone help I have just been advised to buy one of these skimmers and have got it home plumbed it all in started it up and it's so noisy sounds like somebody is running a tap into my tank as the outlet hoses are too short. Anybody else had this problem ?

The only way to really extend the hoses is by using another hose with a larger diameter, this could end up dumping micro bubbles into your display, I'm assuming you don't have a sump. Can't you raise the water level to cover the foam baffles so the water isn't falling back into the display?

Have you hung it from the pelmet or is it attached to the glass? If the pump is in the water I don't understand how the return pipes aren't reaching, what's the space between the top of the water and return pipes? You could run it for a couple of days to bed in and hopefully the micro bubbles will stop and then extend the pipe work. Not much help I'm afraid, can you post a pic how you have it set up? Is it definitely this model?

You'll have to cut a section out of the pelmet so it allows the whole skimmer to lower, you'll need to cut enough so that the foam baffles are covered, the joys of hang on skimmers
