Needless to say, this is a thread you should see, so click UltimateReef Infiltrates Singapore to read it.
I joined the team to help look after UR for the membership, I like to help others where I can and the invitation by the team to help keep the forum running was a great honour
First tanks:
My marine first tank was a 3 foot by 15" by 12" tank, it ran on an under gravel filter, two t8 tubes, ocean rock, heater and an external filter.
My first large reef tank (5’ by 2’ by 2’) was set up in 1998 and wasn’t great. It had no sump, ran on 2 by 150 watt halides, external filters and 2 802 power heads.
My present set up is a 5' by 30" by 30"
My thread about it can be found by clicking ‘A new chapter begins’.
My present set up:
Pros - Nice depth, cabinet looks quite nice
Cons - Weir is too blinking big
If there was anything Id change it would be the Aquascape so it’s more open with more flow down the back, and I’d also like to change the weir to aid in this.
Reefing ‘philosophy’: Keep it simple, don’t jump on the new product band waggon if you don’t need to, and spend a little more on decent equipment to save you buying twice at a later stage.
Goals: Get rid of the weir, and spend less on electric!
Other interests: I’m a keen amateur photographer and i do love me dogs.
A year ago AlanM produced his superb article on The Balling Method.
This month, for all of us who struggle to follow the chemistry, he has demystified the method and produced an excellent new article
